Kitchen tip
No jar with a milk line? Measure 150ml of milk in a jug and weigh 50g of rolled oats on kitchen scales. Our overnight oats jar has both measures built in.
- Add one slightly heaped lid of rolled oats (about 50g) to the blender: fill the upside-down steel lid and tip it in.
- Add 1 tbsp Greek yoghurt, 1 tbsp chia seeds (if using), 1 to 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup, a pinch of salt, and a generous handful of frozen berries.
Kitchen tip
Frozen berries are the ones to reach for: they blend down smoothly, chill the mix as they go, and give a deeper colour than fresh.
- Blend on high until smooth and creamy, like a thick batter.
- Drop a few blueberries into the jar, pour the blended oats over them, and smooth the top.
- Seal the jar and put it straight in the fridge overnight.
- In the morning, top with fresh blueberries, and a little granola if you like. Blended oats set firm, so stir in a splash of milk if it needs loosening.

How long do blended berry overnight oats last in the fridge?
Up to 3 days in a sealed jar in the fridge, kept at 5°C or below. Because the base is blended, the texture holds steady over the 3 days, and only the colour deepens. Add the fresh blueberries on top each morning.
Why blend the oats?
Blending turns the oats and berries into a thick, even batter with no bits to chew, closer to a mousse than to soaked oats. That smooth finish wins over children, and anyone put off by the usual texture. It still sets firm after 8 hours.
Are blended overnight oats just a smoothie?
No, even though they start in a blender. A smoothie is thin and drunk straight away. This mixture goes into a jar for 8 hours, where the oats swell and the batter sets into a thick breakfast you eat with a spoon.
Can you make blended berry overnight oats vegan?
Yes. As written they use Greek yoghurt and honey, so blend in 1 tbsp plant yoghurt instead (coconut or soya blend smoothest) and use maple syrup and a vegan granola, with any plant milk to the same 150ml line.
How many calories are in blended berry overnight oats?
Our estimate is about 420 kcal a jar, made as written with semi-skimmed milk, 1 tbsp honey, the chia, and a generous handful of frozen berries, before the toppings. Your choice of milk and sweetener moves it up or down.
